Interim Superintendent Kevin Brown
Dear Auburn Community:

It is truly an honor and privilege for me to assume the responsibilities as the Interim Superintendent of the Auburn Union School District.

I have lived in both Rocklin and Newcastle over the past 20 years and have enjoyed spending time in the Auburn community. I believe I have a good understanding of the aspirations and expectations our parents have for their children.

I spent thirty-eight years as an educator in four different school districts; my last fourteen years as the Superintendent of the Rocklin Unified School District.

I have been a middle school and high school teacher, coached three sports, an activities director, vice principal/counselor, and spent ten years as a Principal.

Auburn Union School District is facing the same challenges that every California school is undertaking.  Common Core implementation, 21st Century Teaching and Learning, yearly student assessments, new state accountability (Dashboard), Multi-Tiered Student Support Systems, new English Language Learners expectations and the district’s Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP).

How teaching and learning will be delivered (project based, STEAM, blended learning models) and how to best infuse technology to support student achievement, is continuously being enhanced and refined.

The Trustees and staff are fully committed to continuing the improvement process and insuring the success of each child. My responsibility will be to support these efforts and help with the transition to a new full-time Superintendent.

The district is asking for your support and involvement in this process. Please go on-line and complete the superintendent search survey regarding the attributes, skills, and knowledge needed to keep our district in the forefront.

I hope I have the opportunity to meet you personally and please be confident that we have a highly skilled, dedicated, and committed staff working very hard every day to provide the best learning opportunities for the students of our community.

Respectfully,
Kevin Brown
Interim Superintendent
